Project: $60 dollar apple
Welcome to the End of the World (As Dictated by Grocery Prices) Forget hordes of zombies, lethal radiation, or violent gangs. In this "Cozy Apocalypse" life simulator, the real threat is the price of a grocery bag. The apocalypse is already happening because politicians printed money to buy whatever they wanted. Now, a single apple costs $60.95, forcing you to manufacture your own food.
Meet Alfredo Ferreira Dos Santos Pinheiro Lima De Deus Oliveira Dos Prazeres Rodrigues Da Silva Costa. He is a Brazilian just trying to survive the aftermath of the collapse.
Key Survival Features
- Aggressive Agriculture: You start by cultivating crops like peppers, tomatoes, and eggplants (or whatever that purple thing is). Because peppers require water to cool down your throat, you must build an irrigation system. You actually have to water the plant's roots for it to grow, otherwise nothing happens.
- Inventory Logistics: Do not worry about realism when it comes to storage. Alfredo carries everything on him, pretending to fit 70 eggplants into the three or four pockets in his jeans.
- The Book of Bureaucracy: To manage your agricultural accounting, you have a logbook. It tracks everything you have harvested, the exact amount of cash in your wallet, and the full list of available trades in the area.
- The Vagrant Meta: If you are too lazy to walk or plant seeds, you can survive using the Vagrant Meta. You can spend your day flipping items by buying cheap from a desperate neighbor and reselling at a premium to someone even more desperate. It is end-of-the-world day trading directly from your shelter.
- The Quest for the Water Well: Early on, you are forced to waste your cash buying water like a total sucker. Your real goal as a produce tycoon is buying the Water Well, which makes water free and transitions you to being self-sustaining.
- Toxic Winds: Without any warning, a green, radioactive wind can sweep across the map. This wind instantly destroys any food currently planted on the map, turning your work to dust. If you try to harvest in a panic, the wind will also destroy all the food you are currently carrying, resulting in a total loss.
